Ganjam, Aug 3: In a tragic mishap, three persons including two Kanwariyas and one passer-by died after being run over by a speeding truck near Dimiria chhak on NH 16 under Khallikote police station limits in Ganjam district on Saturday morning.

The two deceased Kanwariyas have been identified as Ranjit Nayak and Papu Nayak of Banpur area in Khordha district and the passer-by is identified as Banamali Patra of Dalibati village under Khallikot police station.

According to the information, the goods-laden truck was on its way to Kolkata from Andhra Pradesh and the two kanwariyas had fetched water from Rushikulya river and were on their way to Umamaheswarar temple in Balugaon.

After hitting the Kanwariyas, the truck, later, ran over passer-by and overturned. 

On being informed, Khallikote police officials reached the spot and started an investigation into this matter.
