Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: As many as 240 government employees from various departments have been caught in Vigilance cases in Odisha between June 12, 2024, and September 20, 2026, according to a written reply submitted by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Of the 240 employees, properties disproportionate to their known sources of income were seized in cases involving 130 employees, according to the reply.
The Vigilance Department has seized assets worth Rs 306.47 crore during the two-year period, the reply read.
The Revenue Department accounted for the highest number of employees caught in Vigilance cases, at 72. No official from the Works Department was caught during the period, according to the data presented in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, The Odisha Vigilance Department conducted simultaneous searches at six locations in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Malkangiri on September 27 in connection with allegations that Malkangiri's Mathili block Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Sishir Kumar Dash had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Properties worth crores of rupees were detected during the searches, and the investigation is continuing.
It can be mentioned here that Dash began his government service in 1998 as a Scheme Junior Engineer (JE) at Kundra block.
He was promoted to Assistant Engineer in 2022 and to Assistant Executive Engineer in February 2026. He joined as AEE at Mathili block in April 2026.
The investigation into the case is currently underway.
