Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: An exclusive CCTV footage has surfaced revealing a brutal group attack on Rajanikant Nayak of Nakhau village under Dhauli police limits.
The chilling visuals show over 20 youths arriving in six vehicles and assaulting Rajanikant with iron rods, sharp weapons, and beer bottles.
The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday near the Dayanadi embankment. Rajanikant, who was standing close to the riverbank, was suddenly surrounded and beaten mercilessly.

✨The attackers repeatedly struck his head with beer bottles, leaving him bleeding profusely. His cries for help alerted nearby villagers, who rushed to the spot. On seeing them, the assailants fled immediately.
Following the attack, Rajanikant reached Dhauli police station in a blood‑soaked condition. Police officials quickly shifted him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed multiple stitches on his head and described his condition as critical.
The CCTV footage has become crucial evidence, capturing the sequence of events and helping police identify the attackers. Investigations are underway to determine whether the assault stemmed from past enmity or other motives.
The footage has sparked widespread discussion in the Dhauli area, with locals demanding strict action against those involved.
Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police has intensified patrolling ahead of upcoming festivities. Foot patrols and flag marches have begun in sensitive areas like Salia Sahi and Maitri Vihar to deter mischief‑makers.

gathering points to prevent any disturbance during the festive season.
