Bhawanipatna, Feb 5: In a tragic incident, two persons died after an aluminum-laden truck hit their motorcycle in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Monday.

As per reports, the accident took place near Dhepguda under Lanjigarh block in the district when the speeding truck rammed into the bike from behind and overturned on the road.

The deceased have been identified as Arun Dhangadamajhi and Padmalochan Patra of Pokharibandh village. They were on their way to a nearby village for masonry work, while the truck was coming from Rayagada.

The duo reportedly died on the spot.

After getting information, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

The driver of the truck is absconding and a search operation has been launched to trace him, a police officer said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, he added.

Meanwhile, Several vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road and traffic on the stretch was disrupted for a few hours due to the road mishap.
