Balangir, June 11: In a tragic road accident, two persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries at Jamakhunta village under the Sindhekela police station limits in Balangir district early this morning. 

The deceased and the injured are yet to be identified. 

Some locals saw the four people lying in a pool of blood on the road. They soon informed the police, who came rushing in and took all the injured to a nearby hospital. While two of them were declared dead, two others were shifted to the Vir Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) given their critical condition. 

It is suspected that the fatal mishap was caused by a truck.  

"The investigation is on. We are trying to establish the identity of the victims," said police.
