Bhubaneswar, Jun 18: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bhubaneswar on June 20, the Commissionerate Police has ramped up security arrangements across the city. A high-level review meeting, chaired by the Police Commissioner, was held to finalize deployment plans and coordination with central agencies.
As per official sources, 133 platoons of police force will be deployed to ensure foolproof security during the Prime Minister’s visit.
The deployment includes 59 DCP-rank officers, 33 Additional DCPs, 93 DSPs, 106 Inspectors, and over 450 other police personnel. Officers in plain clothes will also be stationed along the route for added surveillance.
The Prime Minister’s route will begin from Biju Patnaik International Airport, passing through AG Square, Raj Bhavan, Raj Bhavan Rotary, Jaydev Vihar, and culminating at Janata Maidan, where a grand public event is scheduled. The route will be under tight security, with rooftop surveillance and traffic restrictions in place.
The Commissionerate Police is working in close coordination with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and other central security agencies to ensure seamless arrangements. Joint inspections of the airport, roadshow route, and event venue have already been conducted.
PM Modi’s visit marks the celebration of the BJP government’s first year in Odisha and includes a roadshow and the unveiling of the state’s Vision Document 2036. Thousands of attendees are expected at Janata Maidan, prompting authorities to implement crowd control and emergency response measures.
