Deogarh, Aug 21: Normal life was affected in several places in Deogarh district today due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Debagarh Youth Ekta Manch demanding 24-hour health services at the district headquarters hospital.
The shutdown began at 6 AM and will continue until 6 PM, receiving support from all major political parties and local organisations.
As a result, government and private offices, schools, colleges, shops, markets, and public transport have come to a standstill.
The bandh has also severely impacted traffic on National Highway 49, with thousands of goods-laden vehicles stranded due to road blockades.
The protest stems from the relocation of the district headquarters hospital to a new building 5 kilometers away from the city center, which reportedly lacks basic infrastructure and adequate staffing.
Protesters demanded immediate action to restore round-the-clock medical services in the city and ensure that the relocated hospital is fully equipped to serve the population.
