Boudh, Sep 19: A 12-hour bandh is underway at Kantamal block in Boudh district, as locals rallied to demand NAC status, subdivision recognition, and the establishment of a sub-jail.

The shutdown received widespread support from various local organisations, including the Lawyers’ Association, Traders’ Union, Senior Citizens’ Forum, and the Retired Employees’ Association.

Protesters staged road blockades and closed down shops and business establishments, bringing vehicular movement to a standstill across the block.

No reports of violence have emerged so far, and the protest remained largely peaceful, though it caused significant disruption to daily life and transport services
