Key Points
Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal emphasised that the party has consistently supported OBC welfare, contrasting its actions with the BJD and Congress, whom he accused of failing to implement such measures during their tenure
Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Odisha government will soon provide 11.25% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the fields of medical, technical, and skill education, confirmed BJP State President Manmohan Samal.
Addressing a press meet, Samal emphasised that the party has consistently supported OBC welfare, contrasting its actions with the BJD and Congress, whom he accused of failing to implement such measures during their tenure.
He claimed that despite being in power for a long time, these parties lacked the political will to provide educational and professional opportunities for OBCs.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has taken steps toward caste-based census, reinforcing its commitment to social justice. Samal highlighted that the BJP-led Odisha government is actively working to ensure OBC reservations across various sectors, unlike previous administrations.
The announcement has sparked political debate, with opposition parties demanding a higher percentage of reservation. The BJP maintains that this move is a historic step toward empowering backward communities in Odisha.
