Baripada, Dec 18: At least 10 police personnel were injured as the police van carrying them collided head-on with a container truck on Baringiposhi ghat road on NH-49 in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
According to sources, the police van, carrying around 20 personnel, was heading to Baringiposhi. The mishap occurred when the driver of the police van lost control of the wheels when the vehicle was crossing the Bangiriposhi Duarsuni Ghat and the truck was coming from the opposite direction.
After getting information, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured cops with the support of locals.
The injured cops were rushed to the Community Health Centre, Bangiriposhi. After primary treatment, the critically injured cops were shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, Baripada.

On being informed, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
Though the exact cause of the accident has not been ascertained, it is suspected that the police van’s driver lost control due to sudden break-fail of the vehicle, sources said.
