1 Arrested For Hunting Deer In Kendrapara

Kendrapara, Feb 19: Forest officials seized venison (deer meat) and arrested a poacher from Kantiakhai reserve forest in Bhitarkanika National Park at Rajnagar in Kendrapara district on Monday.
According to information, forester Lakshmidhar Barik under the guidance of Additional Conservator of Forest (ACF) Manas Kumar Das rose to action and caught the poacher.
The hunter has been identifed as Surendra Das of Manjuapalli village under Talachua police station limits.
"Four loops, a chopper and an axe were seized from his possession. The seized flesh weighed around 10-12 kilograms. Earlier he was caught for poaching six years back," said ACF Manas Das.

✨The hunter conceded to the crime and said," I had laid the traps four days ago to catch a deer for meat purposes."
He was arrested under Section 9, 27, 29 and 35(6) of Wildlife Protection Act (1972) and court-forwarded.
