Narasinghpur, Jan 24: A dramatic human–leopard confrontation in Anantprasad village of Narsinghpur’s western forest region ended with the death of a leopard and left one youth critically injured.

According to reports, the leopard strayed into the farm of local resident Shubhranshu Bhol at Jaipur. In an attempt to save lives, villagers engaged in a fierce struggle with the animal. During the clash, the leopard was killed while Shubhranshu sustained serious injuries. He was immediately referred to Cuttack for advanced medical treatment.

Forest Department officials later seized the carcass of the leopard from inside the house and have begun an investigation into the incident. Officials confirmed that the leopard had leapt on Shubhranshu inside his farm, triggering the violent encounter.

Speaking on the matter, Manoj Patra, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Athagarh, said that the department has taken custody of the leopard and initiated a detailed inquiry.
