✨Dhankhar, 73, assumed office on August 11, 2022, after winning the vice-presidential election with a commanding 74% of the vote. His tenure was marked by impartial leadership in the Rajya Sabha and a legacy of parliamentary decorum.
Prior to his role as Vice President, Dhankhar served as Governor of West Bengal and held various political positions, including Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the early 1990s.
Born in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, Dhankhar’s journey from a rural upbringing to the nation’s second-highest constitutional office has been widely admired. His resignation follows months of speculation about his health, especially after a hospitalisation earlier this year for cardiac issues.
