In a post on X, Minister Pradhan on Friday hailed the Somnath Temple as an “eternal symbol of India’s self-respect, cultural strength and civilizational continuity,” noting that despite repeated assaults since Mahmud of Ghazni’s attack in 1026 AD, the temple has stood tall as a beacon of faith and determination.
“Somnath Swabhiman Parv is a reminder of that eternal consciousness of India which never diminished despite centuries of assaults. Every time Somnath was attacked, it rose again with greater radiance,” he wrote.

Pradhan added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged
party workers and citizens to share their memories and experiences related to
Somnath, thereby strengthening the campaign. The BJP leader said he interacted
with party workers from Odisha, encouraging them to connect more people with
the initiative.

The Minister said that the Parv is not only about remembering the temple’s history but also about reinforcing national pride and cultural awareness among the masses. “This initiative is a meaningful effort to take our cultural consciousness to every citizen and to strengthen national self-respect,” he said.
The Somnath Swabhiman Parv coincides with the 75th anniversary of the temple’s restoration in 1951, a milestone achieved under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and inaugurated by then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
