New Delhi, June 15: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday took stock of India’s progress in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s 2025 Human Development Report.

"Overviewed a presentation on India’s progress in UNDP’s 2025 Human Development Report. Matter of great satisfaction that India continues to make significant progress in the Human Development Index on all fronts," Pradhan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Union Minister noted that India’s rank has improved from 134 to 130 in Human Development Index (HDI) 2025 as compared to HDI 2024. The HDI score has also improved appreciably from 0.633 to 0.685 (8.21% increase), moving closer to the High Development Category (0.700). ​

"The Expected Years of Schooling (EYS) has commendably risen to 13.3 over the last four years, which is​ a significant characteristic of developed nations. The report is a testament to India’s focus on quality education, skilling, health and well-being for all citizens ​in the last decade," tweeted Pradhan

The United Nations Development Programme is a United Nations agency tasked with helping countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth and human development. The UNDP emphasizes developing local capacity towards long-term self-sufficiency and prosperity.
