New Delhi, Oct 6: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has praised the transformative impact of Zoho Corporation’s rural tech initiative in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi district.
In an Odia article titled “Chhoto re Bada” (Small but Mighty), Pradhan highlighted how Zoho’s decentralised approach to technology and entrepreneurship is reshaping India’s rural landscape.

Zoho’s Vision Beyond Metropolises
Pradhan shared that his attention was drawn to Zoho’s tech campus in the remote village of Mathalamparai, Tenkasi. He commended Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu’s commitment to decentralising technology and empowering rural youth. “Breaking free from the metro-centric mindset, Zoho’s dedication to uplifting lesser-known villages is inspiring,” he wrote.
The Minister emphasized that such initiatives are essential to motivate aspiring entrepreneurs and students across India. He believes that Tenkasi, once a quiet town, is now poised to become a thriving business hub due to Zoho’s presence.

Karuvi: A Rural Startup Success
Pradhan also spotlighted Karuvi, a mechatronics startup incubated by Zoho. The company produces high-quality industrial power tools using local resources and talent. What makes Karuvi unique is its reliance on skilled rural youth, who serve as engineers and innovators at the production center.
The Minister described Karuvi as a symbol of rural revolution, stating, “It’s no exaggeration to call this a grassroots transformation.” According to Pradhan, such ventures will eventually eradicate poverty and reverse migration from villages.
