New Delhi, Oct 24: In a momentous triumph, Indian Kabaddi teams struck gold in both the boys’ and girls’ categories at the Third Asian Youth Games 2025 held in Bahrain.

The victories were met with enthusiastic praise from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who lauded the athletes for their stellar performances and dedication to the sport.

Pradhan took to social media to extend his congratulations, stating, "Heartfelt congratulations to the Indian Kabaddi team for winning gold medals in the men's and women's categories at the Third Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain - 2025. Congratulations to Priyanka Padhan, the daughter of Sambalpur, for making our state and country proud through her sporting achievements. I wish Priyanka a bright future in the coming days."

Both Indian sides defeated Iran in their respective finals.

The boys’ team faced a tough fight before edging past Iran 35-32, while the girls’ team produced a dominating performance to crush Iran 75-21.

The Indian girls’ team had topped the group stage, remaining unbeaten with victories over Bangladesh (46-18), Thailand (70-23), Sri Lanka (73-10) and Iran (59-26). The top two teams from the round-robin stage advanced to the final.

The boys’ team too maintained an unbeaten record, posting wins against Bangladesh (83-19), Sri Lanka (89-16), Pakistan (81-26), Iran (46-29), hosts Bahrain (84-40) and Thailand (85-30) before securing gold.
