Train Tickets To Cost More From Today As Railways Revises AC And Non-AC Ticket Prices

New Delhi, July 1: The Ministry of Railways has implemented a nationwide fare revision for express trains starting today, affecting both air-conditioned (AC) and non-air-conditioned (non-AC) classes.
The move aims to enhance financial sustainability and streamline fare structures across long-distance travel.
Key Fare Revisions
- Non-AC Classes: Increased by 1 paisa per kilometre
- AC Classes: Increased by 2 paise per kilometre
- Ordinary Second Class (up to 500 km): No change
- Beyond 500 km (Second Class):
- 501–1500 km: ₹5 increase
- 1501–2500 km: ₹10 increase
- 2501–3000 km: ₹15 increase
- Sleeper Class: Additional 0.5 paisa per km
- First Class: Additional 0.5 paisa per km

- Suburban train fares
- Monthly season tickets
- Reservation fees and surcharges
- GST and rounding rules
Tickets booked before July 1 will remain valid at the old rates. The updated fares apply only to new bookings made on or after today.
This is the first fare revision since 2020 and is expected to generate additional revenue to support infrastructure upgrades and passenger amenities.
