Bijapur, June 5: In a major success for security forces, a key member of the Central Committee of the banned Maoist organization, Sudhakar, was killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's national park area.


The operation was jointly conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), leading to the elimination of the high-profile insurgent.


Sudhakar, originally from Chintapalli in Andhra Pradesh, had a bounty of ₹1 crore on his head, announced by the government due to his involvement in multiple attacks and organizational leadership. He was actively managing Maoist operations across Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, training cadres and orchestrating major offensives.


According to Dr. Jitendra Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Bijapur, a search operation is still underway in the region. Large quantities of weapons were recovered from the site during the encounter.
