Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: In a horrific incident, a teen-aged girl was kidnapped in broad daylight, which somehow initiated a sequence similar to a movie plot — a plot that has kidnap, and a long chase before the victim was rescued.
The incident, which was reported from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh, came to light after a video went viral on social media.
The girl, reported to be a Class 12 student, was standing near an ATM in Gandhwani bus stand area. A Mahindra Bolero stopped near her before three men jumped out, dragged and pushed her into the vehicle, and fled, as recorded in the CCTV.
Several bystanders, without thinking twice, chased the Bolero with cars and bikes. The Ambapura Road was blocked, which prompted the kidnappers act desperately. They forcefully tried to escape from the scene ramming into other vehicles.
The chase continued for nearly 20 km, where the kidnappers dodged or lane-switched through villages and fields.
As people say, when it’s your day, you’re lucky, and when it’s not, then… And it was a fortunate day, at least for the girl.

Luck finally ran out for the kidnappers when the Bolero rammed a herd of goats. The accused had no other option but to leave the damaged vehicle as well as the girl behind, and flee from the scene.
Upon being informed, police reached the scene and rescued the victim. An investigation was launched in this connection. Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi said the accused have been identified based on the victim's statement, and they will be behind bars very soon.
"A case has been registered against all three accused. Multiple police teams are conducting raids to arrest them. The girl is safe and is now with her family," said Awasthi.
A similar incident had gone viral on social media, where a 23-year-old woman was dragged into a vehicle by several men and women in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, while she was practicing garba on September 20. She was rescued 2 hours later, and 7 people, reportedly her relatives, were arrested.
According to reports, the woman was married. However, her decision to live away from her family angered her relatives, who later decided to commit such an act.
