Chennai, May 5: Tamil Nadu witnessed one of its most dramatic election results on Monday as Vijay’s newly formed party, Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), made a thunderous debut in the state assembly polls. Out of the five states and one Union Territory that declared results, Tamil Nadu stood out with TVK’s remarkable performance, securing 108 seats in its very first election.

The most talked‑about contest came from Tiruppattur constituency, where the margin of victory was razor‑thin. TVK candidate R. Sethupathi Srinivas defeated DMK’s sitting minister K.R. Periyakaruppan by just one vote. Srinivas polled 83,375 votes, while Periyakaruppan finished with 83,374.
