New Delhi, Aug 17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today hailed teachers as the fundamental pillars of society and nation-building.

Pradhan stated this while addressing 31st Foundation Day program of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) at Kaushal Bhawan, Delhi.

“Our teachers are the fundamental pillars of society and nation-building. Indeed, teachers, like the sun and the moon, continuously provide light and direction to society,” opined Pradhan.

He added that at the core of every new awakening in India have been students and the teachers who make them capable.

“Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, in his address from the Red Fort on Independence Day, outlined several important points regarding the country’s future, setting the goal of a ‘Prosperous India.’ To realize the resolve of a ‘Prosperous India,’ it is essential to focus particularly on school education,” opined the Union Minister.

Stating that leadership and solutions for everything from the education system to children’s mental wellness come through our country’s teachers, he said the ‘National Education Policy 2020’ places teachers’ capacity building at its core with this vision.

Innovations like Balvatika 1, 2, 3, Surya Kiran, and Jadui Pitara, as well as initiatives like Atal Tinkering Labs, are connecting children to the mainstream of formal education with new thinking and creativity. Today, nearly 26 crore students in India are the foundation of our future.

In this context, NCTE’s role is not limited to preparing teachers but is also crucial in realizing the vision of a prosperous and developed India by 2047, he asserted.
