Six Killed, 15 Injured In Stampede At Goa’s Lairai Devi Temple

Panaji, May 3: At least six persons were killed while over 15 others sustained injuries in a major stampede that took place at the Lairai Devi temple in Goa.
According to reports, the stampede took place when devotees, gathered for the occasion, suddenly began rushing towards the temple. The chaos quickly escalated, leading to the loss of lives and several injuries.
Around 1,000 police officers were on duty, and drones were used to manage the crowd.
Following the incident, Chief minister Pramod Sawant took stock of the situation and reportedly the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals.
State health minister Vishwajit Rane also confirmed that the deceased, including two men and two women who were brought dead to the hospital.
An emergency response has been initiated after the incident took place.
