Sukma, Jul 11: In a significant breakthrough, six members of the Konta Area Committee of the banned Naxalite group have been apprehended during anti-Naxal operation in Sukma, informed Superintendent of Police Kiran Chauhan.
According to reports, the Sukma police in collaboration with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a combing operation int the area. During this, the security forces arrested the red rebels.
Among those apprehended, two individuals had bounties of Rs 2 lakh each on their heads, while another carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh.
All six are reportedly linked to violent incidents during the 2023 general elections, including attacks on polling stations and civilians, said the senior police official.
The arrests are expected to significantly weaken the operational capabilities of the Naxal network in the area, he added.
Security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance across Sukma district, with further operations planned to dismantle remaining insurgent strongholds.
