Dubai, Sep11: Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, together with India’s Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the first international campus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) at Dubai International Academic City here on Thursday.

The launch of IIM-A’s international campus reflects India’s growing influence in global academia and aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2025 to internationalize the country’s vibrant education ecosystem.
The ceremony was attended by senior UAE Ministers, including Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; and Sara bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of Education. Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, and Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, joined the event along with IIMA officials.
Global Launchpad for Indian Excellence
Minister Pradhan emphasized that the Dubai campus will serve as a platform to bring “the best of India to the world.”
He called the inauguration “a milestone in the globalisation of India’s education” and said the Dubai campus reflects IIMA’s ethos of being “Indian in spirit, global in outlook.”

Strengthening India-UAE Knowledge Ties
The Minister expressed gratitude to HH Sheikh Hamdan for supporting India-UAE educational collaboration. He also met with Sara Musallam, Chairperson of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), to discuss expanding cooperation in the Gulf region.
IIT-Delhi’s Abu Dhabi Campus Milestone
During his UAE tour, Pradhan inaugurated the Atal Incubation Centre at IIT-Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus—its first foreign centre—and launched PhD and B.Tech programs, furthering India’s academic footprint abroad.
Spiritual Tribute at BAPS Temple
Pradhan also visited the BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, describing it as an “impossible miracle” and a beacon of India’s timeless values. He lauded the temple’s intricate architecture and its role in promoting peace, harmony, and spirituality globally.
