Sundargarh, Jul 8: A joint team comprising Jharkhand Police, the elite Jaguar unit, and CRPF personnel recovered 16 landmines and other deadly weapons during a combing operation in the dense Tokle jungle of Jharkhand.

The operation was a part of an intensified anti-Naxal campaign in the region, which has seen heightened activity in recent months.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the forces conducted a coordinated patrol and discovered the explosives hidden in a forested area known for insurgent movement.

The recovered landmines were safely defused by a specialised bomb disposal squad, preventing potential casualties and disruption. Officials believe the cache was intended for ambushes targeting security personnel.

This seizure adds to a series of recent successes in Jharkhand’s Saranda and Kolhan forest belts, where joint forces have been actively neutralising threats posed by Maoist groups.
