Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Kseniia Shakirzianova, a Russian woman who has lived in India for 3 years, posted an Instagram video where she debunked six misconceptions foreigners have about the country.
She started with, "So I have been living in India (for)
around 3 years, and let me clear a few myths," while snacking on an
avocado toast.

She spoke about the hot climate of India and how people
warned her that the sun would burn her skin. "I still haven't gotten a
tan. Even though everyone promised the Indian sun would burn me," she
said.
She was told that she would gain weight from Indian food. “I
didn't gain weight from Indian food. Even though I was warned it's way too
oily,” she added.
She said that she had never ridden a bike in India, not even
as a passenger in an Uber.

She addressed another cultural misconception about Indian
women wearing sarees every day, and that she didn't wear sarees every day.
"Shocking? I know," she jokingly added.
Kseniia said that she was not "spiritually enlightened' and didn't immerse herself in retreats.
The last stereotype she dismissed was drinking Chai "five times a day."
Kseniia concluded that India didn't turn her into a stereotype. The country stayed as it is, and she didn't change.
The video was received positively by Indians on the internet
and praises like, "Keep making videos about India in a positive
perspective, we will support you," "Wow! Always be yourself"
flooded in her comment section.
