New Delhi, July 25: President Droupadi Murmu, India’s 15th President and the first tribal woman to hold the nation’s highest constitutional post, completed three years in office today. Her tenure has been marked by a strong emphasis on inclusivity, accessibility, and citizen engagement.
To commemorate the milestone, President Murmu launched a series of initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the President’s Estates, including the declaration of a Divyangjan-friendly estate, following a 50-point accessibility recommendation. Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan, and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum are now equipped with facilities to accommodate persons with disabilities.
In a major digital outreach effort, the official websites of Rashtrapati Bhavan are now available in 22 Indian languages, enhancing accessibility for citizens across linguistic backgrounds. New visitor amenities were also inaugurated, including a Visitor Facilitation Centre, souvenir shop, and renovated gym at various presidential retreats.
The President also launched E-Upahaar Season 2, an online auction of over 250 items received during her tenure, with proceeds directed toward child welfare initiatives. An e-book capturing highlights from the past year was released, offering a glimpse into her engagements and achievements.

✨Looking ahead, President Murmu announced the commencement of efforts to make Rashtrapati Bhavan a Net Zero campus by March 2027, aligning with India’s sustainability goals.
Born in a Santhali tribal family on June 20,1958 at Uparbeda village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, Murmu’s early life was marked by hardships and struggle.
In 2000, Murmu was elected from the Rairangpur constituency as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Odisha and continued to hold the post till 2009, serving two terms. During this period, she served as Minister of State with independent charge for Commerce and Transport, and later for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development.
In 2015, she became the first tribal woman Governor of Jharkhand, serving a full six-year term and earning praise for her constitutional integrity and advocacy for tribal rights.
Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India on 25 July, 2022. She has devoted her life to empowering the downtrodden and the marginalised sections and deepening the democratic values.
