Jamshedpur, Feb 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday participated in the Bhoomi pujan ceremony of the Shri Jagannath Temple at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, officials said. The event was organized by the Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre Trust, marking a significant spiritual milestone for the region.
Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu emphasized that
Mahaprabhu Jagannath is revered as the Lord of the universe, whose blessings
extend equally to all humanity without discrimination. She highlighted that the
Kolhan region exemplifies the harmonious blend of vibrant tribal traditions
with India’s broader spiritual heritage. The President praised the people of
the region for preserving centuries-old traditions and fostering social
harmony, which she described as a key aspect of devotion to Mahaprabhu
Jagannath.
Reflecting on global challenges, President Murmu expressed
concern over ongoing wars and conflicts worldwide. However, she noted with
optimism the growing devotion to Mahaprabhu Jagannath and the increasing
respect for Indian spiritual traditions across the world. This, she said,
reinforces the belief that Jagannath’s grace will safeguard the well-being of
humanity.

The President also underscored the importance of compassion
and charity in India’s spiritual tradition. She commended the Trust for its
initiatives in supporting education for children from underprivileged families
and urged them to prioritize hostel facilities to ensure access to quality
learning. She stressed that education for economically weaker sections must
remain a top priority.
President Murmu further appreciated the Trust’s efforts to
establish a residential learning program dedicated to the study of the Srimad-Bhagavad-Gita.
She remarked that such initiatives would contribute significantly to spiritual
awakening, character building, and personality development among the younger
generation.

The Bhoomi pujan ceremony is expected to pave the way for

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries were present on the
occasion.
