New Delhi, July 28: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025, being hosted by The Ministry of Education, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on Tuesday marking five transformative years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, officials said on Monday.
The event will bring together policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and academic experts to reflect on NEP’s progress and chart the future of Indian education.
ABSS 2025 will feature day-long deliberations focused on making education more inclusive, skill-oriented, and aligned with employment opportunities. Key themes include re-envisioning secondary education to achieve 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2030, promoting Bharatiya Bhasha in classrooms, integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), and leveraging AI and digital technologies.
Since its launch, NEP 2020 has revolutionized both school and higher education. The National Credit Framework (NCrF) and Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) have enabled flexible learning pathways, with over 2.36 crore APAAR IDs seeded. Technology-driven platforms like SWAYAM and SAMARTH have expanded access to online and distance learning, while initiatives like ONOS and MMTTP have strengthened research and faculty development.

✨In school education, over 14.72 lakh schools and 98 lakh teachers now serve 24.8 crore students. Government schools have shown notable gains in foundational literacy and numeracy, as highlighted by PARAKH and ASER 2024. The ULLAS adult education scheme has empowered 2.6 crore learners, with Ladakh becoming India’s first fully literate administrative unit.
The PM SHRI initiative has selected 13,076 schools for transformation, and SWAYAM PRABHA now offers 200 DTH channels with content in 30 languages. ABSS 2025 will also spotlight the use of Bharatiya Bhasha, AI in education, and nurturing future academic leaders through PMRF.
This landmark event underscores India’s commitment to building a future-ready, equitable, and inclusive education system.
