Pradhan Thanks PM Modi On Bharat Ratna For Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao, MS Swaminathan

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conferring Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour, on former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and PV Narasimha Rao and agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan.

In a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, Pradhan said, "Honouring former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh with 'Bharat Ratna' is not only an honour for Chaudhary, but also an honour for crores of farmers of the country for whose welfare he was always dedicated. An accomplished politician, Chaudhary Saheb made immeasurable contributions to the progress of the country by fulfilling his responsibilities as MLA, Chief Minister, Home Minister and Prime Minister. Chaudhary ji had taken many decisive decisions to provide ownership of their land to farmers, improve their education, health and other facilities. It is heartening to see him honored with Bharat Ratna. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this unprecedented decision."

In another post on X, the Union Minister said, "Honouring former Prime Minister Shri PV Narasimha Rao with Bharat Ratna is a rightful tribute to him for his unparalleled contributions to India’s growth trajectory. A great scholar, an astute administrator and an exemplary statesman, he served the country with distinction. A litterateur and a multi-linguist, he was also renowned for his love for Indian languages. He will forever be remembered for steering India away from the economic crisis with his pioneering reforms. Grateful to PM Narendra Modi for honouring Shri PV Narasimha Rao with the highest civilian honour."

Similarly, Pradhan took to the social media platform and said, " Conferment of Bharat Ratna to Dr. M S Swaminathan, an extraordinary scientist and a staunch advocate of farmers’ welfare, is a matter of great pride and joy. He transformed Indian agriculture in many ways and played a key role in strengthening food security. Passionate about innovation and research, his efforts ensured that fruits of scientific breakthroughs reach those who needed them the most. Bharat Ratna is a just reward for his unparalleled contributions to our nation. Grateful to PM Narendra Modi for his thoughtful decision to honour the life and legacy of one of our greatest scientists."

Earlier in the day, the Union Government announced India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to Former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and also to the Father of green revolution, Dr. M S Swaminathan today. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his social media post.
