Sambalpur, June 2: In a significant push towards agricultural development, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing farmers' income and increasing agricultural productivity during the launch of the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ at Rengali in Sambalpur district on Monday.
The initiative, spearheaded by the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, aims to bring transformative changes to the agricultural sector across India, including Odisha. With over 2,000 scientific teams engaging directly with more than 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts, the campaign will provide crucial insights into new farming technologies and government schemes.
Sambalpur, known for its thriving agricultural community, has immense potential for growth. The region already exports mangoes internationally, and future plans include expanding irrigation facilities and boosting production in horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, dairy farming, and allied sectors.

✨Minister Pradhan emphasized the importance of cold storage facilities and measures to encourage diversified farming. With a focus on crops like potatoes and pulses, the government will support strategies to maximize agricultural output. Additionally, awareness programs will educate farmers on increasing fruit and vegetable production to meet both domestic and international demand.
The ‘Urban Forest Project’ will also be launched in Sambalpur, aiming to preserve the local environment through collective efforts in afforestation. Minister Pradhan urged citizens to actively participate in tree planting initiatives.
