Kolkata, May 11: The newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal, headed by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, on Monday announced the portfolio distribution for the five other cabinet ministers who took oath with him on May 9, 2026.
Former BJP national vice-president and ex-state unit chief Dilip Ghosh has been allotted the portfolios of Panchayat Affairs & Rural Development and Animal Husbandry. Ghosh, elected from the Kharagpur (Sadar) Assembly constituency in West Midnapore district, previously served as MLA from 2016 to 2019 and later as Lok Sabha MP from Medinipur between 2019 and 2024.
Agnimitra Paul, a fashion designer-turned-politician and two-time BJP legislator from Asansol (Dakshin) in West Burdwan district, will handle Women & Child Development, Social Welfare, and Municipal Affairs. Her appointment underscores the party’s focus on women’s empowerment and urban governance.

Former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik, elected from Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district, has been assigned the North Bengal Development portfolio. His inclusion is expected to strengthen BJP’s outreach in the northern region of the state.
Ashok Kirtaniya, a prominent leader from the Matua community, has been given charge of Food & Supplies. Representing Bangaon (Uttar) in North 24 Parganas, Kirtaniya’s appointment reflects the party’s emphasis on community representation and welfare.
Khudiram Tudu, a first-time MLA from the tribal-dominated Ranibandh constituency in Bankura district, will oversee Backward Class Welfare & Development. His inclusion brings tribal representation into the new cabinet.
The next meeting of the Suvendu Adhikari-led cabinet is scheduled for May 18, where additional ministerial appointments and portfolio distributions are expected to be finalized.
