In addition, he will inaugurate 12 horticulture clusters aimed at promoting high-value horticultural crops and improving income opportunities for farmers.

PM-KISAN Milestone

According to official data, more than Rs4.47 lakh crore has been disbursed to eligible farmers through the first 23 instalments of PM-KISAN. The scheme provides direct income support to farmer families through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, helping them meet agricultural and household expenses.

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in a related programme at Raisen in Madhya Pradesh, where a large number of farmers are expected to attend.

Focus on Self-Reliance

The government said agriculture remains central to India's economy and livelihood security. Over the past 12 years, several initiatives have been launched to improve farm incomes and promote modern agricultural practices.

These include PM-KISAN, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Per Drop More Crop.

The Centre is also promoting self-reliance through initiatives such as the National Mission on Edible Oils, Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and the National Mission on Natural Farming.

Boosting Rural Growth

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund has facilitated investments of around Rs1.75 lakh crore across more than 2.28 lakh projects, supporting the development of warehouses, cold storages and processing centres. The government said these investments are expected to reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access and enhance returns for farmers.

The newly launched horticulture clusters are also expected to strengthen the horticulture value chain and encourage crop diversification, contributing to the vision of a prosperous and self-reliant agricultural sector.
