PM Modi to Launch Development Projects Worth Rs18,000 Crore In Bihar & West Bengal Tomorrow

New Delhi, Aug 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a high-impact visit to Bihar and West Bengal on August 22, launching infrastructure, health, transport, and urban development projects worth over Rs18,000 crore, officials said on Thursday.

 

In Bihar, the Prime Minister will begin his day in Gaya, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects totaling Rs 13,000 crore. Key highlights include the Aunta–Simaria bridge on NH-31, a six-lane structure over the Ganga built at Rs 1,870 crore, which will drastically reduce travel time for heavy vehicles and improve access to Simaria Dham, the birthplace of poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama NH-31 section, the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660x1 MW, Rs 6,880 crore), and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Muzaffarpur. Urban development projects under Namami Gange and AMRUT 2.0, including sewerage and water supply systems in Munger, Aurangabad, and Jehanabad, will also be launched.

Rail connectivity will get a boost with the flagging off of the Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) and the Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma). A Grih Pravesh ceremony will mark the symbolic handover of homes to over 16,000 PMAY beneficiaries.

In West Bengal, PM Modi will inaugurate 13.61 km of new metro lines in Kolkata, including the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah–Esplanade, and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay routes. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Kona Expressway, a Rs 1,200 crore six-lane elevated corridor connecting Howrah and Kolkata.

 

These projects aim to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth across both states.
