Bhubaneswar, May 7: India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, 2025, delivering precision strikes against nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

This strategic operation was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives—including a Nepali national.

The Indian armed forces aimed to cripple the operational capabilities of notorious militant groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

The Indian forces carefully selected the targets to go after senior terrorist leadership. The strikes were part of a joint operation by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

Of the nine targets successfully hit by the Indian forces, four were in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Nine Targeted Terrorist Camps

India’s strikes were concentrated on facilities identified as hubs for terrorist recruitment, training, and infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir.

Here’s a breakdown of the nine locations neutralized in the operation:
- Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur, Pakistan – Headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), linked to the Pulwama 2019 attack.
- Markaz Taiba, Muridke, Pakistan – A sprawling 200-acre training facility for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), known for orchestrating terror strikes in India.
- Sarjal / Tehra Kalan – A key infiltration hub, facilitating movement of militants across the border.
- Mehmoona Joya Facility, Sialkot, Pakistan – Launchpad for Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists, reportedly backed by Pakistan’s ISI.
- Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala, PoK – Used for smuggling arms and trained terrorists into the Poonch–Rajauri sector.
- Markaz Abbas, Kotli, PoK – JeM training base, responsible for planning major terror operations.
- Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli, PoK – One of the oldest Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) sites, crucial for cross-border militancy.
- Shawai Nallah Camp, Muzaffarabad, PoK – Lashkar-e-Taiba stronghold, instrumental in planning attacks on India.
- Markaz Syedna Bilal, Muzaffarabad, PoK – Another JeM facility, known for radicalizing and deploying militants.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Defence confirmed hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir "from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed."

"Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution."

The Defence Ministry said India is living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.

India’s Tactical Approach

The operation was precisely coordinated, ensuring zero civilian casualties while targeting terrorist infrastructure. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force executed the strikes using advanced surveillance and intelligence inputs, maintaining a measured and non-escalatory stance.
