New Delhi, Jul 16: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026, paving the way for the admission process to more than 1.36 lakh medical seats across the country, officials said.

Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the examination held on June 21, 2026, at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Of these, 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied courses. The exam was conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese and Urdu.

The NTA said the results were declared on schedule to ensure timely commencement of counselling and admissions. More than 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are women, while most of the top performers are between 17 and 19 years of age.

Earlier in the day, the agency released the final answer key, enabling early declaration of results. The NEET-UG 2026 retest, conducted on June 21, was held without major glitches, with NTA crediting the coordinated effort of seven lakh officials involved in the exercise.

With over 22 lakh aspirants appearing for NEET-UG annually, the 2026–27 academic session will see intake of more than 1.36 lakh medical students across India.
