Bijapur, Aug 7: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism, nine hardcore Maoists surrendered before police in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

Six of the surrendered cadres carried a cumulative bounty of Rs 24 lakh on their heads, marking a major success for ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the region.

Profiles of the Surrendered Maoists Among the surrendered were:
- Baksu Oyam (Rs 8 lakh bounty), member of Company No. 1
- Budhram Potam and Hidma alias Hiria (Rs 5 lakh each), Area Committee Members of Platoons 12 and 13
- Mangu Uika, Roshan Karam, and Manglu Podiyam (Rs 2 lakh each), affiliated with technical and area committees

These individuals were active in various divisions including Marh, South Bastar, and DGN (Dhamtari-Gariaband-Nuapada), and had been involved in several insurgent activities over the years.

Each surrendered Maoist will receive Rs 50,000 under the state’s rehabilitation policy. They will be provided with housing, education, job training, and other support as per government norms.
