Durga Navami, the ninth day of Navratri, is being celebrated across India today. Devotees worship Maa Siddhidatri and perform rituals like Kanya Pujan, seeking divine blessings and prosperity on this auspicious occasion known as Maha Navami.

On Mahanavami, there is great enthusiasm among people and devotees across Odisha. A huge number of devotees across Odisha are thronging Puja Pandals in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and other cities. Pandals showcase vibrant themes—from iconic landmarks to sacred temples—offering prayers and darshan of Goddess Durga.


RSS Turns 100
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marked its 100th anniversary with nationwide celebrations, commemorating a century of cultural service and nation-building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and a silver coin to mark the centenary celebrations of the RSS.

New NCC DG
Lieutenant General Virendra Vats has assumed charge as the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). His appointment brings extensive leadership experience to the youth organization, aiming to strengthen discipline and national service among cadets.

Repo rate Unchanged
The Reserve Bank of India has kept the repo rate steady at 5.5% for the second consecutive time, maintaining a neutral policy stance amid easing inflation and strong domestic demand to support economic growth.

DA Hike
The Union Cabinet has approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), effective from July 1, 2025. The move will cost the exchequer approximately Rs10,084 crore annually.

Berhampur police arrested 119 individuals, including 117 aspirants and two middlemen in connection with the alleged fraud racket linked to the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam.


Earthquake Hits Philippines
More than 60 people were killed and dozens injured as a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Cebu province in the central Philippines. The quake reportedly struck at a depth of 5 km, approximately 19 km northeast of Bogo City.
