Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R S Gopalan said the exercise will continue till June 28, with the final updated electoral rolls scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.
CBI Custody in Twisha Case
A special CBI court in Bhopal has remanded Giribala Singh, former judge and mother-in-law of model Twisha Sharma, along with Samarth Singh, to custody until June 2. Giribala Singh was arrested after the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected her anticipatory bail plea, and she was produced before the special court for custodial interrogation. Twisha Sharma was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ residence on May 12, and allegations of harassment by her in-laws have intensified the investigation.
Retired IAS Officer Killed in AC Blast
Former CCI chief Dhanendra Kumar died after a fire at his Delhi home. The late-night fire was caused by a suspected air-conditioner blast. In the mishap, his son was injured and is now under treatment. Rescue teams saved three others from the badly damaged house.
Six Workers Killed
Uttar Pradesh witnessed a tragic incident when a bridge collapsed during a storm in Uttar Pradesh, killing at least six workers. The structure fell over the Betwa River around two in the morning. Sleeping workers were trapped under the heavy debris during the bad weather. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered fast rescue work and proper medical care. Government teams are still clearing the scene to find any remaining workers.

Odisha’s Angul recorded a horrific road accident, killing man and leaving the another critically injured. The two victims were riding a motorcycle together on a national highway. The mishap occurred when an unidentified vehicle rammed into their bike on the Samakoi bridge, dragging the motorcycle on the road for nearly 200 metres. This triggered fire engulfing the bike and the rider. Emergency teams rushed the injured passenger to a hospital for advanced medical care.
IMD Cuts Monsoon Forecast
The India Meteorological Department lowered its monsoon rainfall forecast to 90 per cent, cutting its earlier prediction of 92 per cent estimate issued in April. The lower rainfall is linked to weak El Nino weather conditions starting in June. IMD predicts most regions will see below-normal rain, except northeast, where rainfall will be normal.
Second Chargesheet In TCS Nashik Case
SIT filed a second chargesheet in Nashik regarding the major corporate religious conversion and sexual harassment case in TCS. The chargesheet covers eight police complaints registered at Mumbai Naka. It named multiple accused people, including former staff. Earlier, policehad filed another 1,500-page chargesheet.
