Internationally acclaimed sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has been named the brand ambassador for National Census 2027. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an official notification.

Fire at SCB Again
Over 100 patients undergoing treatment in the non‑trauma casualty ward were evacuated to safety after a fire was reported in the panel board. Staff immediately alerted authorities, and fire service personnel were pressed in service to douse the flames. This was the second fire mishap at SCB in three days.

A notorious hardcore criminal, Dhaneswar Jhankar alias Tima, was arrested after being shot in the leg during a police encounter in Dumchhali forest area under Rairakhol PS limits. Acting on inputs about the presence of the accused, a team was constituted and intensive search was launched.

The Lok Sabha has extended the tenure of the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining the legislation related to one nation, one election, until the first day of the last week of the Monsoon session, 2026. The bill seeks to introduce simultaneous polls to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.
