Heatwave Grips Odisha
Bhubaneswar recorded 42°C at 1:30 pm today as heatwave intensified. Jharsuguda hit 44.6°C, highest in India, followed by Dhenkanal at 43.2°C. IMD issued yellow warning for 17 districts and said severe heat may persist for five more days.

Summer Vacation Soon
Odisha may announce school and college summer vacations soon. Minister Suresh Pujari said a proposal has been sent to the CMO. Authorities issued heatwave alerts for Khordha, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Balangir districts over the next 24 hours.

Murder Case Cracked
Berhampur Police solved the murder of 47-year-old plot trader Sudhir Kumar Patra, exposing a family conspiracy involving property dispute and witchcraft suspicion. Nine accused were arrested and sent to court. Probe was led by Sadar SDPO Subhransu Sekhar Parida.

Odisha Pushes PNG Rollout
Odisha will implement its City Gas Distribution policy within six months to expand PNG and CNG networks. Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said instructions have been issued to accelerate clean energy infrastructure rollout across urban areas.

60 Fall Ill After Feast
At least 60 people fell ill after a post-funeral feast in Kalapathar village, Cuttack. Victims reported vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Several were shifted to hospitals as conditions worsened, with medical teams deployed for monitoring.

Huge Turnout in Bengal
West Bengal recorded 89.93% turnout till 5 pm in Phase 1 Assembly polls among 3.6 crore voters. Sporadic clashes were reported between TMC and BJP workers, including incidents in Murshidabad and Dakshin Dinajpur.

India gave a guarded response after Donald Trump called India and China “hellholes” in a post on birthright citizenship. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We’ve seen reports,” declining further comment.

US Seizes Iran-Linked Tanker
