Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: In a landmark recognition, Bhubaneswar has been named the safest city for women in India, according to the latest rankings released by Nari-2025, a nationwide initiative focused on gender equity and urban safety.

According to the report,  the city has been lauded for its proactive measures including increased surveillance, women-only police patrols, and gender-sensitive urban planning.

Joining Bhubaneswar in the top tier of safe cities are Kohima (Nagaland), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Aizawl (Mizoram), Gangtok (Sikkim), and Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh). These cities have demonstrated consistent improvements in creating secure environments for women through policy reforms and grassroots initiatives.

The Nari-2025 report is expected to serve as a benchmark for other urban centers striving to enhance safety and empowerment for women across India.
