Bijapur, Aug 14: A powerful IED blast targeted security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Thursday, leaving one District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan critically injured. The explosion occurred between Matwada and Kutru villages, a region known for Maoist activity.
According to official sources, the incident took place while a team of DRG personnel was returning from a combing operation. Maoists reportedly planted the improvised explosive device (IED) along the route, aiming to ambush the returning forces.
The injured jawan was immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. His condition is reported to be serious but stable. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
