Bengaluru, Dec 24: A shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when a 39yearold woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband shortly after she served him a divorce notice.

 

According to reports, the accused confronted his wife following receipt of the legal notice and, in a fit of rage, opened fire, leading to her death on the spot.

 

Following the incident, the accused husband, identified as Balamurugan, surrendered before the Magadi Road police and confessed to the crime.

 

On basis of the statement, police rushed to the scene and seized the body for postmortem examination. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.

Balamurugan, a software engineer, was formerly employed with Capgemini at Whitefield in Bengaluru while the deceased victim was working at the Union Bank of India's Basaveshwaranagar branch and residing in Rajajinagar along with her two children.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused fired five rounds at his 39yearold wife, killing her on the spot. While two bullets struck her head, two hit her hand.

During questioning, he confessed that the divorce notice provoked him, citing marital discord and suspicion of an affair.

 

Police are probing how he obtained the pistol and whether it was licensed. Statements from the victim’s family will be recorded.

 

The couple, married in 2011, had been living separately for over a year due to differences.
