Bhubaneswar, July 26: On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas today, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid rich tribute to the valiant soldiers of the Indian Army who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

In a heartfelt post on X, Pradhan described the day as a symbol of the army’s unparalleled bravery, unwavering courage, and boundless dedication to the nation.
“On this sacred occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I respectfully salute those warriors who sacrificed their lives to protect Mother India. Their sacrifice will remain immortal in the hearts of every Indian for generations to come. Jai Hind,” he wrote.

✨Kargil Vijay Diwas is being celebrated today across the country to honour the bravery of Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. The day marks the 26th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the conflict and the successful conclusion of Operation Vijay.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid their tributes to the brave soldiers on the occasion.
Kargil Vijay Diwas marks the success of Operation Vijay against Pakistan in the Kargil War. In this operation, the Indian Armed Forces re-established control over those areas in Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir, where Pakistani soldiers and terrorists had infiltrated. The Kargil War, which lasted for about 60 days, ended on this day.
Commemorative events were held nationwide, including a Padyatra in Drass led by MY Bharat Youth volunteers, joined by veterans, armed forces personnel, and families of martyrs. The Indian Air Force and other military branches paid homage through ceremonial salutes and digital tributes.
