Gorakhpur, Apr 25: Gorakhpur witnessed a landmark moment as Dr Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL), inaugurated Project ‘SAKSHAM’ in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyay University.
The event brought together senior leadership from HURL — including the VP (HR & CSR), BUH–Gorakhpur, AVPs, CSR team members — as well as officials from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and its training partners.
Rooted in HURL’s philosophy that true nation-building begins at the grassroots, Project ‘SAKSHAM’ reflects the company’s commitment to driving impactful CSR and CER initiatives that empower communities and create sustainable opportunities.
Launched in collaboration with NSDC, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employability by equipping underprivileged youth with industry-relevant skills.

✨A total of 2,265 unemployed youth across Gorakhpur, Barauni, and Sindri will benefit from the programme. Of these, 400 youth from Gorakhpur will undergo specialized training under a dedicated programme supported by a project outlay of ₹1.49 crore.
More than just a training initiative, ‘SAKSHAM’ is designed to enable meaningful employment, self-employment pathways, and sustainable livelihoods. By ensuring that skills translate into dignity, independence, and long-term growth, the project embodies HURL’s vision of inclusive development.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Mohanty emphasized that initiatives like ‘SAKSHAM’ are vital in shaping a self-reliant and empowered youth population, aligned with India’s broader development goals. He highlighted that skill development is not merely about jobs — it is about instilling confidence, fostering independence, and building resilient communities.
