Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Dec 10: The Trump administration has notified Congress of a proposed $686 million sale to upgrade Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft, triggering a 30-day review period and close scrutiny from India.

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency said the package includes $37 million in Major Defence Equipment and $649 million in hardware, software, and logistical support.

Key items include 92 Link-16 tactical data link systems and six Mk-82 inert bomb bodies for testing. Washington insists the deal will not alter the regional military balance, but India remains concerned about its impact on security, stability, and strategic trust in South Asia.
