Rise of Brand Modi
The power of "Brand Modi" is clear in the massive explosion of sales. In 2013-14, total sales for Khadi and Village Industries stood at Rs 31,154 crore. Twelve years later, sales soared to a historic Rs 1,87,105 crore! This is a massive 501 percent jump. Production followed the same path, shooting up by 380 percent from Rs 26,109 crore to Rs 1,25,296 crore.

✨The growth is even more incredible for Khadi textiles alone. Back in 2013-14, textile sales were just Rs 1,081 crore. By 2025-26, that number rocketed to Rs 7,869 crore—a stunning 628 percent increase! Production of these beautiful fabrics also jumped 390 percent, moving from Rs 811 crore to Rs 3,974 crore.
Transforming the Village Economy
Village industries saw a massive boom too. Sales rose by 496 percent, climbing from Rs 30,073 crore to a staggering Rs 1,79,236 crore. Production kept pace with a 380 percent increase, reaching Rs 1,21,322 crore.
This high demand meant millions of people in rural areas could find reliable work. Total employment in the sector grew by 56 percent. The workforce jumped from 1.30 crore workers to a massive 2.04 crore workers.
Changing Lives on the Ground
For the people making the cloth, this growth changed everything. Spinners and weavers saw their wages rise by 275 percent. Their pay went from just Rs 4 per hank to Rs 15 per hank. At the same time, the government stepped up to buy more local goods, pushing government procurement to Rs 92.08 crore.
