Guwahati, May 7: Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited Khanapara in Guwahati to review preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit and the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Council of Ministers.

Officials confirmed that the Chief Minister inspected arrangements at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, where the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to be held on May 12. Sarma reviewed security arrangements, seating plans, traffic management, stage construction, and other logistical aspects of the high-profile event.

The ceremony is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national leaders, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, along with senior government officials and party leaders. Elaborate security and administrative measures are being put in place in view of the Prime Minister’s participation.

Senior civil, police, and district administration officials accompanied Sarma during the inspection and briefed him on the progress of preparations.

State BJP President Dilip Saikia announced that the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP-led NDA government in Assam will be held on May 12 at 11 a.m. at Khanapara. He said the event is expected to draw more than one lakh people, reflecting massive public enthusiasm across Guwahati and other parts of Assam.

According to Saikia, Prime Minister Modi is likely to arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati at around 10:15 a.m. on May 12, before proceeding to the Narengi helipad and then reaching the venue at Khanapara.

He further stated that apart from the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, along with senior party leaders from across the country, are expected to attend the programme.

Preparations for the event are being closely monitored by the party and the state government. Several ministers, senior BJP functionaries, and organizational leaders have been assigned responsibilities to oversee arrangements and maintain discipline during the ceremony.

The swearing-in ceremony is set to be a historic occasion for Assam, marking the formation of the new NDA government with widespread public participation and national attention.
